Learning on the move
An interactive website, designed in association with five British transport museums, has been launched in a bid to encourage youngsters across the country learn more about transport issues.
Learning on the move is aimed at seven to 11 year olds and is the culmination of a two-year partnership between the National Railway Museum in York, the National Tramway Museum in Crich, the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, the London Transport Museum and the National Tramways Museum in Gloucester.
The website is sponsored by the Department for Education and Skills as part of a nationwide project called Learning through Culture: the Museums and Galleries Education Programme (MGEP).
Schools Minister, Catherine Ashton, said: 'Through phase one MPEG funding, schools now have support from the cultural sector, but I want to see more links between museums and schools, and that is why we have committed a further £1m nationally to a second phase of the programme.'
