Legionnaire’s link to Scottish hotel
Two cases of Legionnaire’s Disease may be linked to Mackay’s Hotel in Strathpeffer, Ross-shire, in Scotland.
A woman who visited the leisure centre at the hotel on 17 June is currently being treated in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, while a man who used the leisure facilities over the same weekend is being treated at the Western General Hospital in Glasgow.
The hotel’s owners have voluntarily closed the premises while an investigation is being carried out by the NHS Highland and Highland Council’s Environmental Health Service.
Head of the service Alistair Thomson said: “This infection cannot be spread from person to person. There is no indication that anyone who has not visited the hotel is likely to be exposed to risk – so there is no risk to the wider community.”
