Leisure trust launched to manage Forest Heath facilities
A new leisure trust was launched on 1 July to take over the management of Forest Heath District Council's leisure centres, swimming pools and community facilities.
Anglia Community Leisure, which is currently applying for registration with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, has a 10-year contract to operate the sites.
Tony Bass, formerly head of leisure with Forest Heath District Council, has been appointed chief executive of the new trust.
"I am looking forward to this new venture and in particular opening the new Newmarket Leisure Centre later this year," he said.
"We have a great team of staff and I am keen to develop Anglia Community Leisure as a sustainable and approachable leisure provider within the local community."
A new website has been launched this week, offering details of all the facilities, alongside special events and holiday activity programmes.
Chairman of Anglia Community Leisure, Richard Balfe, said: "The new website is a mine of information for anyone wanting to use our facilities and it means that people can access all they need 24/7.
"We hope this will be a real asset for our customers and we would love users to let us know what they think by using our online feedback form. I urge everyone to put this on their favourites and access it regularly." Details: www.angcomleisure.com
