Lews Castle design team appointed
Edinburgh-based Malcolm Fraser Architects has been appointed to lead a design team for the Lews Castle and Museum nan Eilean project near Stornoway.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar - Western Isles Council is behind the proposals for the historic site, which is also poised to include a new 'hospitality venue'. Simpson and Brown Architects will also be involved with the scheme, which will be funded by the council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Malcolm Fraser said: "We are alive to the significance of this project. A revitalised Lews Castle with the new museum and archive as part of it will bring new energy and activity to the Islands. Joe Macphee, leader of the council's project team, added: "This is another important milestone and we look forward to working with Malcolm Fraser Architects and their team."
