Next Generation will be investing £50m and opening four new health and fitness clubs throughout 2002.

The clubs, in Maida Vale in London, Bristol, York and Dartford are all already under construction. They will create 450 new jobs and have the potential to attract more than 5000 members each. Next Generation plan to roll out a further 10 clubs in the UK over the next three years.

The health and fitness club concept, created by former British Davis Cup team captain, David Lloyd three years ago, already has a 35,000 strong membership in its Edinburgh, Glasgow, Chorley, Ipswich, Dudley and Dundee clubs.

Each club will have unique features, tailored to the local area, but they will all typically include a gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, aerobic studios and whirlpools, as well as squash and badminton courts, saunas, steam rooms, a hair and beauty salon, restaurant and bar. The clubs will also be used to trial new concepts including cinemas, climbing walls, business centres and kids gyms.

We aim to look after every aspect of health and well being. With every club we undertake, we work hard to ensure that we try something new, so that it is innovative and totally unique, said managing director, Scott Lloyd.
