London borough of Bromley registers all fitness professionals
All fitness professionals employed by Bromley’s new leisure trust are now on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
Within the borough there are four leisure centres – managed by the recently formed Bromley Mytime Trust – and six neighbourhood sports sites.
Over 60 fitness professionals are employed by the charitable trust and all of these are now signed up to the register.
The registration process has been managed by Lesley Barnet, group fitness manager under the guidance of Chris Godwin, business development manager.
“Our support of the register reflects our commitment to the delivery of a high quality, professional service to the local community,” said Barnet.
“The REPs helps us to demonstrate best practice and provides residents of Bromley with peace of mind that they are receiving advice from true professionals.”
Bromley Mytime funds the initial registration of all fitness professionals and all renewals.
“Our staff are a valuable asset and it is important that we invest in their career development if we are to retain this key resource,” said Godwin.
“We are also currently reviewing our employee education programme to ensure that we continue to provide adequate support to team members as they fulfil the REPs continuous professional development requirements.”
