Lottery funding boost for Stockton schemes
Two heritage projects in Stockton-on-Tees have been awarded confirmed grants totalling a combined £2m by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
Efforts to revamp the centre of Stockton as part of a Townscape Heritage Initiative scheme have been handed a £1.7m boost, with work to include the repair of historic buildings. Meanwhile, plans for the restoration of Preston Hall Walled Kitchen Garden have secured £300,000, which will also include the introduction of educational activities.
Ivor Crowther, head of the HLF, North East, said: "These two transformational projects remind us that Stockton is steeped in history and will bring with them a host of benefits. "Bringing Stockton Town Centre and Preston Hall Walled Garden back to life will allow for essential improvements and repairs to get underway encourage stability and growth for local business."
