MLA publishes London 2012 archive
A new national community archive designed to record the people's experiences of London hosting of the 2012 Olympic Games has been unveiled by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
The People's Record forms part of the MLA's programme for the 2012 Olympics and aims to provide individuals across England with the opportunity to have their say and record their thoughts about the forthcoming London Games. Between the handover from the 2008 Beijing Games and the launch of the Cultural Olympiad in September 2008, the MLA supported 29 projects as part of the People's Record initiative, which aims to provide an insight into the excitement and controversy the event has generated.
Vanessa Harbar, MLA project manager for 2012, said: "The People's Record shows that people across the country are already affected by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and that they have strong opinions. Museums, libraries and archives are playing a lead role in supporting communities to capture and celebrate these voices."
