Macdonald Hotels looks at £200m asset sale
Macdonald Hotels has appointed financial consultants Deloitte to advise on the possible £200m sale of around 20 hotels from its portfolio.
Macdonald, which is backed by the Bank of Scotland, could sell the hotels in a sale and manage-back deal, although the group has yet to finalise the list of properties which could be sold. The hotels sold would continue to be operated under the Macdonald Hotels brand.
It is understood that the decision to sell the hotels comes after the group received a number of “serious approaches” from institutional investors interested in buying different portfolios.
Funds from the sale would be invested in new projects including a 264-room hotel in Manchester and a Bristol site, which will both be completed in spring 2007. Details: www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk
