Macdonald restructure to drive brand awareness
Macdonald Hotels has completed a restructure of its sales and marketing teams designed to increase brand awareness among both the trade and consumers.
The restructure has included recruiting both a new marketing director and a sales director.
Tony Seaman, who has been with Macdonald for a year and was formerly managing director of car hire broker, Holliday Autos, has been made marketing director, while Ian Leat, formerly with InterContinental Hotels, has been appointed sales director.
Both will report to director of sales and marketing, Manju Goel, who has also recruited a team of regional sales directors and managers including Paul Wilson – regional sales director for the north of England – and Vicki Laird – regional sales director for the south west.
Wilson was previously with Hanover Hotels and Laird has worked for both InterContinental Hotels and Radisson SAS.
Goel said: “Macdonald Hotels has over 60 four-star hotels, yet it does not have the awareness in the marketplace to match this. As one of the most successful hotel chains in the UK, we should have a much stronger presence in terms of recognition than we currently do.
“The restructure is an integral part of our development plan going forward and I want to see us develop stronger relationships, both in the leisure and corporate markets, and also develop new distribution channels to communicate our messages.”
Macdonald operates hotels in the UK and in Spain and has an annual turnover of more than £240m. Details: www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk
