Major revamp for Worcester play area
Worcester City Council (WCC) has started work on the creation of a new play facility as part of a wider scheme to transform the city's Gheluvelt Park.
More than £803,000 has been contributed by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund towards the park's renovation, with the existing play area currently being redeveloped. New equipment - including an Asterope climbing frame structure; conventional swings; a swing designed for disabled users and a Blazer rocker - is set to be provided as part of the work.
New ground markings for games and safety surfacing around the toddler play equipment will also be installed, while adults are set to benefit from additional seating. The new play area is scheduled to be completed by the end of July, ahead of Gheluvelt Park's reopening event on 14 August.
