A new, 400-member gym is to be built at Sir Cliff Richard’s former home in central London, despite objections raised by neighbours.
The gym space will be created in an old boiler room at the corner of Marylebone Road and Harley Street, Marylebone.
Residents have fiercely complained to Westminster council about the proposed construction, claiming it would bring unacceptable noise levels to the district, create parking problems and raise security issues for the neighbourhood.
Westminster planning officers, along with the club developer, Harley House, have now agreed to soundproof the club, fit self-closing doors and a CCTV system and let no more than 30 members use the club facilities at any one time.
