Interactive theatre and animation company Digital Interactive Booth Systems (DIBS) has secured a deal to deliver its Animalive concept at four Sea Life centres across the UK.

Merlin Entertainments, which operates the Sea Life portfolio of attractions, will install Animalive's Chatterbox Minis at Sea Life centres in Brighton, Birmingham, Weymouth and Scarborough.

The Animalive booths provide a live interactive animation system which combines motion capture with real time animation rendering. Animalive won the best product for show production and entertainment at the IAAPA Expo in 2009.

A special character called Kiah the Turtle has been created for the Sea Life centres, which will host an interactive quiz.

Designed for children, the quiz will question guests about their experience and what they have learned during their visit. The questions were designed and supplied by the Sealife centres' animal husbandry experts.

Max Leviston, general manager of Sealife Centre in Brighton, said: "Not everyone will read a leaflet or poster, and certainly not children. When their favourite cartoon character tells them the difference they can make by recycling rubbish or being more efficient with energy they listen and take it all on board."

DIBS recently opened a regional office in Austin, Texas, to expand the Animalive brand in North America. The group appointed Michael Goss to head its US operations as sales director.
