NSW retains Lifesaving Championships title for fifth year
New South Wales narrowly beat Queensland in the 2007 Australian National Lifesaving Championships to retain its title for the fifth consecutive year after a four-day competition held at Challenge Stadium, Perth, Western Australia on 10-13 January.
Victoria came in third and South Australia fourth, in the event, which saw more than 150 lifesavers competing from all over Australia.
The Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships is an annual competition held by Royal Life Saving and the events are designed to test the competitors’ abilities in a number of simulated real-life situations.
Events include the manikin tow and rescue, line throw and obstacle relay.
The Championships were also the final event of the Lifesaving Grand Prix Series, following two previous events held in Sydney in June and Adelaide in November 2006. Details: www.royallifesaving.com.au
