A NZ$24m combined museum, library and visitor attraction has opened in New Plymouth in Taranaki, New Zealand.

The 5,000sq m, two-building complex, called Puke Ariki, tells the story of Taranaki through exhibitions, displays, collections and technology designed by New Zealand-based 3D Creative.

The centre has taken two years to develop and displays over 3,000 objects and artefacts with over 5,500 interpretive graphics and 50 mechanical and computer intractives.

3D Creative designer, Craig Turvey, said: “Puke Ariki combines hi-tech design with presentations of history and entertainment with traditional and IT-based information.”
