A number of new exhibitions - as well as a major redevelopment - are set to be completed at Scotland's five National Museums during 2011.
The National Museum of Scotland is set to reopen in summer 2011 following a £46m redevelopment.
the three-year project has seen the creation of 14 new galleries and two hands-on discovery centres at the attraction.
A larger gallery for international touring exhibitions has also been added, as well as new education facilities and a learning centre. Other new facilities include a new street-level entrance, a restaurant, a shop and a visitor reception area.
Meanwhile, at the National War Museum, a new exhibition called Humanity in War will open in February, depicting warfare across the last 150 years.
Following on the war theme, the National Museum of Costume will launch its Land Girls and Lumber Jills exhibition in March, exploring the diverse real life experiences of women who helped keep the country on its feet during World War II.
