New Harry Ramsden's owner eyes expansion
Fish and chip restaurant chain Harry Ramsden's is set to open 100 new properties over the next five years under new plans announced by the company's new owner, Ranjit Boparan.
The iconic UK restaurant chain, which first opened in Guiseley, West Yorkshire, in 1928, was acquired by the food entrepreneur's Boparan Ventures group less than a year after it rescued the Fishworks business from administration. Harry Ramsden's currently operates 36 restaurants and takeaways, but is set for a large-scale expansion scheme under the leadership of new chief executive officer, Marija Simovic.
Boparan said: "Harry Ramsden's is a great British institution and we want to put it back on the map by focusing on the fundamental basics of superb service, exceptional value and, most importantly, the very best tasting fish and chips you can buy. "And, we're planning to open a further 100 locations within the next five years and expect to create around 600 new jobs, taking care to ensure that customers are guaranteed the same consistent quality at every single store."
