New Leeds complex nearing completion
Leeds City Council (LCC) has revealed new images of a major multi-million pound leisure centre, which is nearing completion in Morley, Leeds.
Morley Leisure Centre, which is one of two new facilities being developed as part of a joint £33m council-led project, is due to open this summer to replace an old centre closed in July 2008. Facilities at the centre will include a 150-station Bodyline gym - the largest council-operated gym in the city, a 25m swimming pool, a 10m learner pool and two sports halls.
A multi-activity hall, a dance studio and a café are also included as part of Morley Leisure Centre, which has been developed by contractor Interserve in addition to a new facility at Armley. LCC executive member for leisure John Procter said: "You can really get a feel for how they are going to look when they are finished and we are counting down the weeks until the doors open.
"These two new centres are going to be fantastic additions to our leisure centre provision here in Leeds, giving us state-of-the-art new facilities which any city in the world would be proud of having."
