Work is set to commence next year on the construction of the new £7m Midlands Sports Centre, after plans were given the green light by the council.
The new centre – which will serve the Canley and Tile Hill area in the south west of the city – is to be managed by the Coventry Sports Foundation.
The new centre will be sited close to the Westwood School and will feature outdoor grass pitches, a third generation synthetic pitch, netball and tennis courts, a fitness suite with martial arts and dance studios and a café and bar, as well as a six-lane 25m pool with movable floor.
Additional facilities may include a purpose-built youth facility.
