New adiZone opens in Gravesham
A new adiZone - an outdoor multi-sport gym facility developed by sportswear company Adidas - has been unveiled by Gravesham Borough Council (GBC) in Gravesend, Kent.
Located on the town's riverfront, the permanent installation boasts facilities for basketball, football, tennis and climbing, as well as an open area for dance, aerobics and gymnastics. Initially installed within London 2012 host boroughs, the adiZone concept is now being rolled out across the country, with the new Gravesend facility the first in south east England.
Existing play equipment due to be upgraded as part of planned Riverside Leisure Area enhancements has been replaced by the adiZone, which has been part-funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. GBC also secured funding from its youth capital budget and the Parklands regeneration scheme through the Homes and Communities Agency.
