New attractions for Museum of Kent Life
The Museum of Kent Life is to reopen on 4 April with several new attractions – including a themed outdoor adventure play area.
The Maidstone-based farm attraction, which is operated by Continuum, will also boast an indoor ‘play barn’, new animals and a new admissions area and gift shop.
There will also be a new ‘Cuddle Corner’, where children can interact with a range of the site’s smaller animals.
Julia Delaney, chief executive of Continuum, said: “While there are plans to initially increase the family fun aspect of the Museum of Kent Life and add more commercial aspects to the site to sustain it, we will absolutely respect the integrity of the museum’s much-loved historical collection and theme.
“But to survive in today’s crowded marketplace, visitor attractions need to be much more commercially savvy. We will bring a strategic and commercial development to the site, which will make it much more sustainable in the long term.”
Continuum took over the operation of the site from a charitable trust in November last year. The two will work together as part of a 25-year lease deal and will continue to invest in the attraction as part of a five-year development plan.
