New management plan for Scotland's St Kilda World Heritage Site
The National Trust for Scotland (NTS), Scottish Natural Heritage and Historic Scotland are among the agencies to sign up to a new management plan for St Kilda World Heritage Site.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar - the local authority for the Western Isles - has also signed up to the plan, in addition to the Ministry of Defence, which has an installation on the archipelago.
The strategy outlines a collaborative vision for the management and conservation of St Kilda over the next 20-30 years and was signed on the 82nd anniversary of its evacuation.
NTS has been responsible for managing St Kilda on behalf of the nation since 1957. It was awarded World Heritage Status in 1986 in recognition of its natural heritage.
The new management plan has been developed in partnership between the signatories and is designed to respond to threats facing wildlife habitats across the remote archipelago.
NTS chief executive Kate Mavor said: "These beautiful and beguiling islands provide habitats for a range of important species, including one of the smallest mammals, the St Kilda Mouse."
