New report underlines Olympic benefits
A new report from the London 2012 Equality and Diversity Forum has underlined how next year's Olympic and Paralympic Games are benefiting London residents and businesses.
Working towards an Inclusive Games - the third annual report from the forum - has been published to demonstrate how the capital will achieve an accessible and inclusive event. The forum includes the London Organising Committee of the 2012 Games, Greater London Authority, Olympic Delivery Authority and Olympic Park Legacy Company, as well as the London Development Agency.
Among the key achievements is a £2m investment by mayor Boris Johnson in a wide range of projects through the Sports Legacy Programme, and the £15.5m Sports Fund. Other achievements include the launch of inclusivelondon.com, a resource designed to help disabled people find out the accessibility features of tourism businesses across the city.
Johnson said: "It is essential that we deliver a Games that everyone can get involved in and feel a part of and today we can see the benefits and opportunities from the Games reaching out to every corner of our capital and beyond."
