New tool for pubs to improve accessibility
VisitEngland, working in partnership with the British Beer and Pub Association, has unveiled a new online tool to help businesses cater for visitors with access needs.
Pubs will be encouraged to write a "general introduction" that outlines its location and to provide information about specific services and facilities suitable, such as car parking; bar and dining areas; and beer gardens.
Once an Access Statement has been prepared by businesses, it can be made available online to visitors with access needs. The statement can also be used by pubs on their website or wherever they might have a listing.
VisitEngland skills, welcome and accessibility manager Ross Calladine said: "Pubs, like any other tourist venue, should provide as much information to visitors as possible - this will help to enhance the visitor experience and also highlight areas where the business could improve."
