No charges over spa pool death
A coroner has found that no one should face charges over the death of a girl in a spa pool in Queensland, Australia, but has made a series of recommendations to make public spa pools safer to use in the future.
The 13-year-old girl became trapped underwater at the Seahaven Resort at Noosa Heads in December 2001, when her hair became tangled in the intake valve of a spa pool in the resort’s spa area.
A Workplace Health and Safety advisor found that the accident occurred as a result of design and operational deficiencies in the pool.
