Olympic tourism consultation leaflet launched
The DCMS has launched a leaflet summarising the 2012 Olympics tourism consultation it launched on 19 July.
The leaflet is designed to encourage small and medium-sized businesses to get involved in the Welcome – Legacy consultation, which was created in partnership with VisitBritain and Visit London to “get the most” out of the 2012 Olympic Games by allowing members of the industry to have their say.
Views are welcomed from representative bodies and business in the tourism and hospitality sector; national, regional and local government across the UK; consumer representatives; and “organisations in other sectors which will contribute to the success of the Games in tourism terms, including sport, culture, heritage, the arts and the media”.
The consultation asks 21 questions on a broad range of subjects, including how to get tourism’s Games structure right, how to position the UK as a world class destination and how to improve the quality of our welcome.
The leaflet signs off with the appeal: “Please get involved, give us the benefit of your experience and help shape the future of UK tourism.”
The consultation closes on 17 November. Details: www.culture.gov.uk/tourism2012
