Overhaul planned for Herts leisure complex
London-based property group Capital and Regional has submitted its plans for an extensive refurbishment of its Leisure World complex in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
The 170,000sq ft (15,794sq m) venue at Jarman Fields is to undergo a complete rebranding and reconfiguration, while remaining open for the duration of the process.
Due for completion in spring 2013, the £4m scheme will comprise family-orientated eateries and external terraced seating areas, as well as a new gym; an ice rink; and a cinema.
A bowling alley and a children's play facility are also mooted as part of the scheme, subject to the approval of the local planning authority.
David James, responsible for national developments at Capital and Regional, said: "Jarman Fields is a terrific location for both retail and leisure occupiers.
"Leisure World is showing its age and the offer needs upgrading to satisfy the evident family orientated demand. Our proposals are planned to address both of these issues."
