Detailed plans have been announced for the £2.5m sports facility at the Cranfield University in Bedfordshire.
The new facility, designed by architects Sheppard Robinson, will include multi-use sports courts, a reception area and changing facilities. A first floor viewing gallery will also be built along one side of the hall, allowing spectators to watch the courts below.
The indoor centre will cater for volleyball, basket ball, five-a-side football, netball, badminton and cricket and is scheduled to open in October 2007.
Operated by the University’s own staff, the facility will be open to university students and staff as well as members of the public.
Local construction firm Bluestone has been appointed to build the facility.
