Paisley-based sports facility provider, Powerleague, is opening four purpose-built five-a-side football facilities this spring as part of a £6m expansion. The company, set up two years ago and largely funded by the Royal Bank of Scotland and 3i, has just opened sites at Norwich, Newham and Stoke-on-Trent, with work almost complete on a fourth site in Hainault, Essex. Powerleague's managing director, Martyn Grealey, says the demand for high-quality five-a-side facilities is at a premium: By investing in new Powerleague centres throughout the country, we can help satisfy that demand and encourage more people to take an interest in the game. It will also strengthen our position as the UK's number one five-a-side operator. The new centres, each with 10 floodlit, all-weather pitches, changing facilities and bar, will host a variety of social, competitive and corporate footballing events and will be available to local schools and youth groups during the week. The new centres bring Powerleague's total portfolio to 23.
