Premier Training to offer Power Club courses
Premier Training International is to launch a new qualification for personal trainers at this year's Leisure Industry Week (LIW) show in Birmingham.
Designed by Premier, the new Power Club course is based on methods first used in Persia and later adopted by the Indian military.
Power Club training first surfaced in the UK during the age of the British Empire, when soldiers learned and developed the method after being introduced to it on the sub-continent.
Interest faltered, however, before WWII but now Premier has announced that it will be restoring it as a training modality for the UK fitness industry.
The exercises are based around human movement patterns and will be marketed as dynamic group sessions that clubs can introduce as part of their class offering.
Premier is hoping that the new method will establish itself among the top fitness trends during 2011.
The method has already gained some success in the US, where sessions have been designed to move members away from the slower pace of gym machines and introduce them to the more dynamic movement and momentum associated with sport and activity.
According to Ben Pratt, R&D manager at Premier, Power Clubs are suitable for all ages and either sex and can be used indoors and outdoors in a wide variety of locations.
"We are excited to unveil our Power Clubs qualification at LIW as we've invested significant time and effort in developing it," he said.
"We've taken the best the US had to offer and applied functional human movement principles and exercise programming."
