Quod heads for the coast
The UK's third Quod Restaurant & Bar opens in Brighton this month.
Situated in the 1806-built colonnade on the corner of North Street and New Road, the Italian-themed restaurant occupies a site formerly occupied by Mrs Homer Herrings Millinery and Mantle Shop and later by Clarkes Café.
After an extensive refit, the building - next door to the Theatre Royal and over the road from Brighton's Dome - will reopen on 3 April and offer a 130-cover restaurant with a 60-seat bar.
Fittings will include limestone floors, oak tables, leather-clad banquettes and a zinc-topped bar. Quod is also opening an art gallery adjacent to the restaurant, to show and sell contemporary artwork.
The Quod concept was developed by Jeremy Mogford and Gary Strivens, Mogford also being the founder of Browns Restaurants. Other Quod restaurants are in Haymarket in London and in Oxford. Details: www.quod.co.uk
