RFU pledges support for Championship clubs
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has pledged to explore how it can provide better support for Championship clubs' facilities and coaching.
Following discussions between the sport's national governing body and club representatives, both agreed to put forward four individuals to meet regularly to resolve the issues. Facilities and England Qualified Coaches funding featured as topics explored as part of the talks, along with clubs expenses in relation to the British and Irish Cup.
RFU Board chair Martyn Thomas said: "The most crucial of these is around funding and we have listened to the clubs' concerns and accept the very real situation they find themselves in. "We were able to make a decision on travel expenses which is a small step forward but are now looking forward to a constructive dialogue around how we address the other points around funding made by the club."
