Report highlights Premier League tackling issues
A new report from the FA Premier League shows that football clubs are having a significant impact in improving education standards, reducing crime and cutting anti- social behaviour.
Young People Matter identifies some of the many and varied ways that clubs from the Premier League are engaging and assisting their local communities.
Schemes such as Premier League Reading Stars and the Playing for Success programme – which is run by the Premier League and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) – have helped over 100,000 young people improve literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
The Percent Club Index – which measures social reinvestment by corporate organisations – has listed the Premier League for the fourth year in succession, said chief executive, Richard Scudamore: “We take our commitment to investing in the community very seriously and will continue to make sure we do all we can.”
