Revamp at Liverpool Cathedral
A new 40-seat mezzanine café bar and gift shop have been built at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
The cathedral – designed in 1902 by Giles Gilbert Scott – also features a new audiovisual tour called ‘The Great Space’, which starts in a newly-built presentation theatre showing a 10-minute film including a CGI fly-through the cathedral.
The project was designed by architects Brock Carmichael with consultants Mather & Co.
Eryl Parry, director of hospitality at Liverpool Cathedral, said: “It’s important that well-visited landmarks have appropriate facilities to match the quality of the building.
“The previous facilities didn’t match modern-day standards, therefore the cathedral made the bold step of not being satisfied with a lick of paint and a few leaflets.”
