Rezidor adds Rwanda to its portfolio
The Rezidor Hotel Group will be adding a 62nd nation to its portfolio with the opening in 2012 of the Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Centre in Kigali, Rwanda.
The new 292-room hotel will form part of a mixed-use development in the Rwandan capital, with Rezidor overseeing the hotel and convention centre. Facilities will comprise six food and beverage outlets, a spa and fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and boutique retail shops. The adjacent convention centre will have a net floor area of 32,000sq m (344,445sq ft), which includes a multipurpose arena with a capacity of up to 2,600 people, seven sub-divisible conference rooms and 10 smaller meeting rooms.
The development is situated between the city centre and Kigali International Airport. Rezidor has a number of hotels currently under development in major cities across Africa, with Radisson Blu openings planned for this year including Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa; Lagos, Nigeria; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Maputo, Mozambique; and Lusaka, Zambia.
