The Rezidor Hotel Group has opened its new Radisson Blu hotel and wellness centre in Johannesburg's Sandton district, South Africa.

The 290-room Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton features an outdoor swimming pool and sun deck, eight conference rooms, Vivace – a fine dining italian restaurant – as well as a wellness centre and flagship club for Planet Fitness. There is also an 250m jogging circuit and an indoor virtual golf driving range. Planet Fitness' R100M (£7.1m) 5,000sq m (53,820sq ft) facility offers a Technogym-equipped fitness suite, including the Technogym Wellness System, a Bikram yoga studio and a kinesis studio. There is also a selection of saunas, Roman baths and steamroom facilities and a 25m indoor swimming pool offering light therapy and soothing underwater music.

Run by ONEwellness, the 620sq m (6,673sq ft) spa features 10 treatment rooms, a sleep room and a vitality pool surrounded by a relaxation deck and changing rooms. ONEwellness, launched by Queensgate Wellness Holdings in 2007, uses Pevonia Botanica products in its treatments. The hotel group, which recently rebranded its Radisson SAS to Radisson Blu after ending its partnership with SAS International Hotels in 2006, is planning to open Blu properties in Port Elizabeth (2009), Blaauwberg (2010) and a second site in Sandton (2010). The company already operates existing Radisson and Park Inn hotels in Cape Town.
