The first Ritz-Carlton in South America is to open in the winter of 2003.
The 205 room Ritz-Carlton, Santiago provides 855sq m of meeting space and a rooftop fitness center and spa with views of the Andes mountains. Simon Cooper, president and chief operating officer at Ritz Carlton Hotel Company said: 'We have been looking for the perfect opportunity for Ritz-Carlton to enter the South American market, especially with the growth of customers from the region to our hotels in the Caribbean and now in Miami.'
