SCL develops staff training programmes
Slough Community Leisure (SCL) is to extend its professional development programme of management and leadership essentials.
The training programme, known as The Greenhouse, has been running for two years and will now target staff at the supervisory level, helping them develop structures for managing performance and developing their own teams. The extension of the programme follows a series of four sessions conducted by Strictly People in 2008 that supported staff at duty manager level and above.
Slough Community Leisure will invest more than £9,000 in staff development this year as a direct result of the improved performance following the sessions with Strictly People in 2008. Jennifer Blackburn, HR Manager of SCL, said: "We are investing in the Greenhouse project because we recognise that the future of the business lies with our staff at all levels.
"Last year's development with the managers raised the bar in terms of levels of accountability and performance and led directly to more cohesion amongst the staff and consequently a better experience for our customers."
