Scottish golf tourism campaign unveiled
VisitScotland, the national tourism agency for Scotland, has launched a new campaign designed to encourage UK and international golfers to play at one of the country's golf courses.
The Drive It Home initiative, which is set to run until the end of April, hopes to capitalise on Scotland's reputation as the home of golf and will offer a range of promotions to attract more visitors. More than 250 free tee times at courses across Scotland are being offered as part of the campaign, as well as the opportunity to play with the former Ryder Cup captain, Sam Torrance, or play on the iconic St Andrews Old Course.
Torrance, VisitScotland's golf ambassador, said: "The Drive It Home promotion is the perfect reason for both international and UK golfers to visit the Home of Golf in 2010." Philip Riddle, the agency's chief executive, added: "Drive It Home encourages Scottish golf courses and local businesses to work together and cross-sell, an ethos which, particularly in the current climate, will help the industry achieve its full potential."
