Self-regulation debated at international conference
The critical importance of professional regulation as essential to safe, quality patient care was the focal point of debate at a recent international conference, convened by the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Held in collaboration with the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, the conference attracted more than 500 physicians, physical therapists, dentist, nurses, pharmacists and government officials attended.
Discussion also focused on the increased scrutiny that professional self-regulation is coming under in many countries.
The WHPA represents more than 23 million healthcare professionals worldwide and is responsible for assembling essential knowledge from key health professions. Details: whpa.org
