Seminar on new Scottish licensing laws launched
Dundee College in Scotland is holding a seminar on 28 November to discuss the implications of the new licensing laws and to introduce its new training course, which aims to address new requirements for door staff.
The legislation, which will be introduced in November 2007, requires door stewards and supervisors to be fully trained and licensed to work legally in Scotland.
Speakers will include representatives from the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the Scottish Business Crime Centre and BII Scotland – the professional body for the licensed retail sector.
Susan Chapple, team leader of hospitality at the college, said: “The industry is facing quite a shift in terms of what training is necessary before a licence can be granted, so it is imperative that people come along to this seminar. We are confident that we can address any concerns held and questions asked by those in the industry.
“Over the past few years we have delivered a course for door stewards in compliance with local authority guidelines. We are now ready to deliver a new course which will cover everything required by the new legislation.” Details: www.dundeecoll.ac.uk
