Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is to expand its presence in Australia after securing a new management agreement for a hotel in Brisbane currently operated by Holiday Inn.
The 191-bedroom property will be relaunched as a Traders Hotel on 7 August and will be under the sole ownership and management of Shangri-La Asia Ltd.
Facilities currently include two whirlpools on the 18th floor; a sauna; and a rooftop fitness suite. A spokesperson said that it is not yet known if any new facilities or refurbishment is planned.
The acquisition of the Brisbane hotel forms part of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' long-term vision for the Australian market, which is the group's third largest.
Formed in 1989, the group currently operates more than 70 hotels under the Shangri-La, Kerry and Traders brands across a number of countries.
