Short-term focus for BTA
The British Tourist Authority's (BTA) work will continue to focus on the short term to bring visitors back to Britain, according to the organisation's business plan for 2002/3 to 2004/5.
The BTA says it will concentrate on short-term plans such as its £40m Only in Britain. Only in 2002 campaign, which aims to generate £500m for the economy in 2002. Other short term plans include developing an IT strategy this year to provide a framework for all of BTA' projects, evaluating its present overseas and London-based structures and reviewing the balance between short and long term market investment. A new publication will also be developed giving inbound statistics and intelligence.
The strategy for 2002/2003 includes generating £1.05bn of additional spend by overseas tourists, generating more than 45 per cent of BTA's incremental spend outside of London and generating more than 18 per cent of the BTA's incremental spend during January to March and over 23 per cent during October to December.
