Sir David Michels, former chief executive of Hilton International, was elected president of the British Hospitality Association (BHA) at its annual general meeting held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel last week.

He succeeds Ramon Pajares, who has held the post for six years.

At the meeting, Pajares was elected an honorary fellow of the association, together with Alan Parker, chief executive of Whitbread Hotel Company.

Parker is a past chairman of the BHA National Executive and the BHA Council.

Fellowships are granted to senior members of the industry who have given distinguished service both to the industry and to the association.

“We are very pleased that Sir David has accepted our invitation to be the association’s next president and we welcome the election of Ramon Pajares and Alan Parker as honorary fellows,” said Bob Cotton, chief executive of the BHA.

“All three have been outstanding supporters of the association and have championed the hospitality and tourism industry for many years.”
