SkillsActive unveils new fitness instructor courses

Two new qualifications in fitness instructing have been developed by SkillsActive.

The new awards are level 2 fitness instructing (gym, exercise to music and water-based exercise) and level 3 advanced fitness instructing (gym).

“These qualifications could not have been created without the co-operation, commitment and input from the sector awarding bodies together with SkillsActive," said SkillsActive’s Lee Buck.

“It is hoped that this work can continue in other sub-sectors within SkillsActive and could be used as part of trialing and testing for the emerging credit and qualifications framework.”

Awarding bodies will be able to seek accreditation of the new qualifications in early 2007.
