Somerset play park plans approved
An adventure play park and skate facility is set to be created in Midsomer Norton after plans were given the nod of approval by Bath and North East Somerset Council (BANES).
The council has now awarded planning permission for the scheme having already earmarked £800,000 for the new facilities, which will be built near the South Wansdyke Sports Centre. Norton Radstock Council has contributed £50,000 and local group Manic Skaterz has raised a further £6,000 towards the project, which will feature traffic calming measures and CCTV cameras to meet the concerns of some local residents.
Work is expected to begin by the end of November 2009 and the new park, which will form part of BANES' £2.5m plans to improve facilities for young people across the area, is due to be completed by the end of April 2010.
