Sport England appoints new COO
Rona Chester, group finance director at the Law Society, has been appointed to the newly-created role of chief operations officer (COO) at Sport England.
Chester, who will take up her position on 1 March after more than two years at the Law Society, will be responsible for the organisation's functional areas of finance, business planning, information technology and grants management. The new COO role will also help support the work of Sport England's chair and chief executive in order to continue with its efforts to create a "world-leading community sport system" for England.
Sport England chief executive Jennie Price said: "We are delighted to have appointed someone of Rona's calibre to this new and important post. It is one which sits at the heart of our organisation, and with her considerable experience in both the public and private sectors, I am confident that we will build upon the standards and momentum we have established over the past two years."
