Sport England unveils efficiency strategy
Five new groups of approved suppliers have been announced by Sport England to help its partners achieve efficiency savings and improve the way facilities provision is planned.
It is anticipated that the Strategic Planning Framework for Sport scheme will enable sports organisations to manage procurements efficiently and benefit from reduced rates through a competitive tendering process. Sport England partners will be invited to sign up for the scheme in order to receive a list of service providers for each relevant group. The list will contain details of maximum day rates and help guide a tender process.
Initially set up by Sport England to drive its own savings, the groups have been opened up to partners and include the Strategic Planning group - comprising Continuum Sport and Leisure; Kit Campbell Associates (KCA); Neil Allen Associates (NAA); and Leisure Futures. KCA and NAA form part of the Needs Assessment group alongside Knight, Kavanagh and Page (KKP), while NAA and KKP comprise the Playing Pitch Strategies and the Sport Specific Facility Strategies groups; the latter also including Trio Plus.
The fifth group - Town Planning Support - incorporates Bidwells; Entec; Impact Consulting; Land Use Consultants; Martin Elson; and Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners. Sport England property director Charles Johnston said: "At a time when public sector finances are under increasing pressure, it's important that we do everything we can to secure value for money from every pound spent. That's why we've helping our partners to be more efficient.
"We want them to get the best possible advice to ensure that the right facilities are built in the right places for people to continue to use for years to come." The groups will become accessible from September.
