Sports hub for Canterbury
A new Community Sports Hub is under development in Canterbury, following the appointment of consultants Capita Symonds and HSSP Architects by the city council.
The scheme will comprise a clubhouse with health and fitness facilities as well as changing rooms and spectator seating.
A floodlit, full-size football pitch and additional junior and mini football pitches will be complemented by a floodlit, third-generation synthetic turf pitch and further recreation and play facilities.
Chief executive of the council Colin Carmichael said: "Creating a top quality Community Football Hub for local residents is one of the city council's highest priorities. We are pleased to be working with two companies that are leaders in this field and look forward to a successful partnership."
Tom Pinnington, project manager at Capita, added: "The Capita Symonds team is very pleased to be supporting the council in developing this project from feasibility through to delivery of a successful planning application.
"We will work closely with partners and local residents to ensure that the scheme has as much support as possible. We anticipate our work will help deliver much needed facilities to the community of Canterbury."
