Sports pilot scores in Lanarkshire
North Lanarkshire Council is considering rolling out a pilot scheme it ran in partnership with Strathclyde Police and Shotts Healthy Living Centre from 18 March to 29 April.
Funded through the North Lanarkshire Community Safety Partnership (NLCSP), the Saturday Sportscene project was developed to address concerns about anti-social behaviour in Shotts and the surrounding area in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
The project provided sessions in swimming, dance, football, basketball and wall climbing for young people aged 10 and over.
Mary Castle, chair of NLCSP, said: “We will now evaluate the success of the pilot with a view to how we can extend the scheme throughout North Lanarkshire.”
Sessions were taken by coaches provided by HITSport, a Glasgow-based sports coaching company.
